Letterkenny Sinn Fein Councillor Gerry Mc Monagle is once again calling on the HSE to upgrade security around the car parks at St Conals and Letterkenny Hospitals.
The call comes after the latest incident at the St Conals Hospital car park were a car had two of its doors stolen. Read full article

Donegal Sinn Féin Senator Pearse Doherty, has criticised the failure of the Department of Agriculture to make available full REPS IV payments.
Senator Doherty was responding to a statement from the Minister for Agriculture Brendan Smith, in response to a Sinn Féin Dáil question, in which he said that he hoped to make 75% of each payment in mid December. Read full article

Sinn Féin Senator Pearse Doherty today secured a Seanad debate with the Minister for Social and Family Affairs on the need for the Minister to reverse the decision to abolish the Christmas bonus.
Speaking from the Seanad this evening Senator Pearse Doherty said this cruel and scrooge-like move will drive struggling families into the hands of money-lenders and will be disastrous for local economies. Doherty claimed that this decision will have a massive effect in Donegal with over 54,000 people in the county receiving social welfare payments. Read full article

Donegal Sinn Féin Senator, Pearse Doherty, has expressed confidence that the Gweedore Library will be located in the purpose built Aislann Gaoth Dobhair. Senator Doherty was speaking following a visit to the Aislann to view the Multi facility, state of the art building that will not be fully completed as planned due to financial difficulties at state level. Sinn Féin spokesperson on Education Senator Pearse Doherty has welcomed the statement by minister of Education Batt O Keefe in which he said that there would be no change to small schools as long as he was minister. At Tuesdays meeting of the Glenties electoral area Cllr Marie Therese Gallagher, opened discussion on the ever-increasing employment situation in the Rosses and Dungloe.
With Planning statistics down by 100% over a 12 month period, Cllr Gallagher felt that it was time for the local area committee to acknowledge their responsibilities and stand up and fight for the needs of West Donegal. Read full article

Speaking in the Seanad this week Donegal Sinn Féin Senator Pearse Doherty has called on the Minister for Agriculture to show compassion to the 2,233 Donegal farmers who have been shut out from the REPS 4 scheme.
Senator Doherty made the plea in the Seanad to the Junior Minister for Agriculture, calling on Government to reverse cuts on farming which is leading to the destruction of small rural farms and slowly driving traditional farming out of existence. Read full article
