Sinn Féin Councillor Tony Mc Daid has this week repeated the call for men to find a voice in condemning the continuing sexual assaults and rape of women. Cllr Mc Daid's call comes in the wake of three alleged sexual assaults in Gweedore and Loch an luir on the August Bank Holiday weekend and in Lifford in the last few days. Read full article

major myths in local politics and for some councillors or TDs to start and be
honest with the public about the nonsense that they can get a housing applicant
a house. He said that any one who is allocated a house by the local authorities
is perfectly entitled to one as of right and was not given the house as some

Sinn Féin Cllr Pádraig Mac Lochlainn has said the only way to end the ongoing crisis in Letterkenny General Hospital's accident and emergency department is to invest public money in the public hospital and immediately deliver or fast track the extra beds and promised new A&E ward. The Sinn Féin candidate for Donegal North East said the HSE's latest plan to reward hospitals for high performance with additional consultants as an incentive for improvement is like putting the cart before the horse and is a ridiculous concept. Today's announcement from Island oil and gas that they have discovered a significant gas find of the south coast of Ireland reinforces correct decision taken by the council
Donegal County Council has unanimously supported a Sinn Fein motion calling on the government to ensure that any future oil and gas exploration licences are only granted when clear benefits can be guaranteed for the people of Ireland. The council also called for the suspension of the current round of applications that are due to be granted this week, until the terms and conditions attached to the licences are reviewed and a better deal struck for the people.
