Sinn Féin Cllr Pearse Doherty reiterates support for undocumented Irish in the United States

Sinn Féin Cllr Pearse Doherty said Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams MP has been in touch with the offices of senior US Congressional and Senate leaders to ask them to continue with their efforts to resolve the issue of the undocumented Irish in the United States. Sinn Fein County Councillor Tony McDaid has welcomed the joint announcement by the Departments of Health North and South that pilot schemes enabling communities in Inishowen to access "Out of Hours" medical services in Derry and areas of Armagh to link with Castleblaney, are now to proceed after a long delay. Sinn Féin calls on ESB to suspend high voltage plans for West Donegal

Sinn Féin County Councillor Pearse Doherty has called on the ESB to suspend their plans to bring high voltage 110kv cables through West Donegal until a decision has been made with regard to the granting of oil and gas exploration licences. His call comes after it emerged that one of the five applicants is seeking to develop a gas powered generating plant in Burtonport. Read full article

Sinn Féin calls for halt to anti-community behaviour

Sinn Fein Cllr Gerry McMonagle is calling on the people responsible for setting fire to a rubbish skip at the side of a dwelling in Fairgreen area of the Town in the early hours of Tuesday morning to stop for a minute and consider their actions. He said this fire, in such close proximity to a family home where children were sleeping, could have had tragic consequences especially considering the timing of the incident. Read full article

Doherty slams Fianna Fail for acting against the county by failing to back the calls for State involvement in Oil and Gas Exploration

Sinn Féin Cllr Pearse Doherty has expressed his disappointment at the decision by Donegal Fianna Fail deputies to reject the Private Members Bill in support of the regulation of oil and gas resources. Sinn Féin had called for the state to take a more proactive role in both the supervision of the sector and in implementing a tax and royalties scheme that would ensure the people of the country benefit from the potentially massive reserves that lie in Irish waters.
