Buncrana Mayor to convene urgent meeting of stakeholders on Keith Prowse job losses
Mayor of Buncrana and Deputy Mayor of Donegal, Cllr Pádraig Mac Lochlainn will convene a meeting on the Keith Prowse job losses early next week. Those in attendance will include Keith Prowse senior management, the IDA, Donegal County Council, and an all party political delegation of local representatives.
The company have confirmed that their Lisfannon offices will close this Sunday night (15th August) with the loss of up to 100 jobs.
Mayor Mac Lochlainn said:
"I have held detalied discussions with the CEO of Seatem and Keith Prowse, Paul Burns, and Joe`McHugh of the IDA this morning and I feel that while this is a devastating blow to the workers and to Buncrana and Inishowen, we have to move immediately to market the top class, experienced staff and world class and state of the art facilities at Lisfannon".
"Paul Burns has told me that he is already actively seeking to attract other companies in the call centre/ ticket sales industry to locate at Lisfannon and I have arranged for the IDA and FÁS to work with the company to work on a marketing strategy and to establish if the IDA have any companies in their pipe line that could locate there".
"We need to all work together to ensure that our community does not lose hope in the potential to market Buncrana and Inishowen for investment. That will be our focus in the time ahead"
