The people of Donegal have had enough. Take to the streets and support staff and patients in Letterkenny - Donegal MayorPublished: 4 August, 2010
Sinn Fein Mayor Cora Harvey has called on the people of Donegal to come out in their thousands to support the staff and patients at Letterkenny Hospital at a protest rally on Saturday. Mayor Harvey said that every community in Donegal will be hurt by the cuts and that the only way to fight them was together. "The staff and patients at Letterkenny Hospital cannot be left to fight these cuts alone. The withdrawal of vital services in the county along with the loss of over a hundred health staff will have a severe impact in villages and towns right across Donegal. It is wrong and unacceptable. "I am calling on everyone concerned about the proposed cuts to come out and show a united front on Saturday. "More people on the streets will mean a louder voice to tell the government that the people of Donegal have had enough and that we won't take this lying down. We simply will not accept cuts which target the most vulnerable in our society. We won't accept that the sick should pay for the failings of bankers. "Come out and join us. Together we will be stronger." |
