Tens of thousands sign up to "online book of condolences" for Inishowen crash victims

"A wonderful heartfelt tribute" Mayor Pádraig Mac Lochlainn

Mayor of Buncrana and Deputy Mayor of Donegal, Cllr Pádraig Mac Lochlainn, has described the facebook page "Remembrance for Donegal Crash Victims" established in the days after last weeks tragedy in Inishowen, as a "wonderful heartfelt tribute to those who lost their lives".

Tens of thousands have already signed up to the page and thousands have left heartfelt messages of love, prayers, and support for the families.

Mayor Mac Lochlainn said:

"This page reads like an online book of condolences. It is evidence of the true nature of Irish people at home and abroad. The tributes are from people across the Island of Island and overseas. I know that the families will take great heart from this huge demonstration of love and solidarity in these very difficult times for them".

"Over the last week, I heard stories of local people receiving calls and emails from their friends and relatives all over, expressing their deepest concern and sympathy with the families and the people back home. I myself received so many messages of support from councils and politicians all over Ireland. It is a reminder that often in moments of the greatest adversity, the true good nature of our people is evident"
