Published: 16 July, 2010
Local Sinn Féin councillor, Gerry McMonagle has welcomed an announcement that 200 new jobs are to be created in Letterkenny by the American health insurer UnitedHealth Group. Cllr McMonagle described the jobs boost as particularly welcome in challenging times.
Cllr McMonagle said:
"The announcement by United Health Group to expand its operations in Letterkenny and create 200 additional jobs is a landmark decision for the people of Donegal and reflects the talent and skills of the workforce and the potential that this area holds for job creation.
"This is a particularly welcome announcement in such challenging times. Given that there are currently 6,143 people on the Live Register in the town, Letterkenny is in major need of investment. Such job announcements should become a regular feature so that we can fulfil our potential and show what Letterkenny has to offer."
