Have your say on Carndonagh town plan- Cllr Pádraig Mac Lochlainn

Inishowen County Councillor, Pádraig Mac Lochlainn has called on the people of Carndonagh to have their say on their town plan. At the recent Inishowen Electoral Area Committee meeting, council planners confirmed that they have commenced the early preparatory stage of the plan and are happy to receive submissions from interested parties ahead of the formal period of consultation.

Cllr Mac Lochlainn has campaigned for a Carndonagh Town Plan since his election to the council in 2004 and had intensified his efforts over recent months including a successful council motion and high level meetings, ahead of the annual budget meeting.

He said:

"This is an important breakthrough for the people of Carndonagh. It has been a long time since the town has had a plan. Town plans are so important in that they provide an agreed framework for a community to build into the future. Carndonagh has suffered economically over recent times but its strength, as always, is its people and its community spirit. This town plan is a unique opportunity for all to come together and have a say on what needs to be done".

"It is really important that businesses, community groups, sporting organisations and the people of Carndonagh now contact Gerry Richards of the Central Planning Unit at the Carndonagh Public Service Centre. This is your plan and we need to get it right for you".
