Pedestrian crossing and traffic lights for MovillePublished: 28 July, 2006
A motion calling for traffic lights at the Malin Rd junction on Moville's main street submitted by Sinn Féin Councillor, Pádraig Mac Lochlainn has been successfully passed at last weeks meeting of Donegal County Council.
Cllr Mac Lochlainn said:
"Since my election to Donegal County Council in 2004, I have constantly raised the issue of traffic lights at this junction. Indeed, my colleagues in the Moville/ Greencastle Sinn Féin cumann had championed the issue as part of an overall submission on traffic management and safety to Donegal County Council prior to my election. I welcome the recent construction of a left hand turning lane by the council to alleviate traffic pressure coming from the Malin Road direction but traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing are still necessary at this junction, particularly with the added traffic in recent times from the Ferry and the Community College. I will maintain the pressure on the council until this issue is finally addressed". |
