Published: 13 June, 2006

The Drumboe Martyrs Cumann, Donegal Town, has been formed and its office holders officially elected at the first AGM on Wednesday 31 May 2006. "Sinn Fein in Donegal continues to grow from strength to strength as yet another Cumann is formed in the county" stated County Sinn Fein Chairperson, Mick Quinn.

Speaking at the meeting Cllr PJ Branley welcomed the new members to the party and praised them for their initiative in bringing republican politics to their local area.

After the meeting Cllr Thomas Pringle said:

"The new Cumann has set as its main priority the establishment of a versatile and effective republican activist base within Donegal Town. The goal for the Drumboe Martyrs Cumann is to see the successful election of Pearse Doherty to Leinster House next year and to continue to strengthen and develop republican activism to serve the interests of the local community.

"The stranglehold of the establishment parties is being challenged in every community in Donegal and The Drumboe Martyrs Cumann in Donegal Town will play a vital role in securing a Leinster House seat for Sinn Fein and Pearse Doherty in next years general election and building an Ireland of equals in the years to come

"With a strong community focused movement we can complete the unfinished business started by previous generations for the betterment of all".
