Sinn Féin Cllr Pádraig Mac Lochlainn will be seeking an urgent meeting with the Housing Executive of Donegal County Council in the Milford Electoral Area to raise resident concerns that were brought to him during a recent canvass in the area.

Cllr Mac Lochlainn said:

"Quite recently during a canvass of the Carrigart area with the local Sinn Féin representative Donal Cullen, the residents of the estate brought to my attention some of the structural problems that exist. These range from dangerous pathways and lack of safety barriers and elderly access through to the failure to provide suitable green belt playing areas.

"After discussions with the concerned residents, we visited many of the areas and were shocked at the general state of neglect that exists. It is unacceptable that Donegal County Council has not dealt with these long standing issues, as most of them have been problems for a considerable amount of time. In particular I was very disappointed at the state of the so-called 'green area' where young people play.

"Following this visit Sinn Féin in conjunction with the residents carried out a door to door survey of the area to allow us to present a detailed report to the Housing Executive at our forthcoming meeting. There are many issues of concern within that survey and they need to be addressed with utmost urgency.

"All residents should rightly expect their area to be maintained at the highest level of appearance and standard. In recent times housing developments throughout the County are of the highest standard possible and there is absolutely no reason why the residents of Radharc na Oileain should expect anything less."
